Are you ready for this?
Yep, you’ve just been given a mini-tour of our future home!
As of March 28th, we will be renting this beautiful piece of property and beginning the next leg of our homesteading journey!
Yes, we did just move last fall.
And yes, we are just a little bit crazy!
However, this is the good kind of crazy 😉
This is what we’ve been dreaming about for years.
As the title eludes, the four-bedroom home we will be renting sits on 11 acres of land (yes, 11 acres!!! Our own little mini farm!) that has been organically farmed, has several outbuildings (including a hut and fenced area for goats, a work shed, the foundation of a 6 foot tall hoop house, a chicken coop, and a small greenhouse), a small and established orchard (nectarines, apples, pears!) to go along with the ~15 very established grape vines, a fenced in Market Garden with irrigation in place, and so many possibilities that the mind boggles.
It also boasts magnificent views of the Jemez Mountains and backs right up to the Chama River.
We are moving into “O’Keeffe Country” and it is phenomenal.
We will be officially an hour north of our urban farm and the city where our jobs are, so along with this move we will also become commuters. Luckily, we’ll be able to drive together about half the time.
I cannot even begin to express how exciting this is! And I mean the realistic, rose-colored-glasses-off kind of excited!
More details and better photos to come (forgive the iPhone pics and funny light).
For now, I’m off to pack another box 😉
xoxo,
M
Try stitcher radio for compiling podcasts for your commute! It’s worked wonders for me.
Thank you, Kelly! I’ll look into it 🙂
Congratulations on your new adventure! It looks like this place has a ton of potential!

Thanks you, Laurie! The potential really boggles the mind! I keep having to remind myself to slow down and take it all one step at a time 🙂
I am so excited for you! There are so many outbuildings and so much space.

Rachel, the infrastructure on the property was the real selling point! The Landlady has saved us so much time and so much money by setting everything up 🙂 Plus, it’s a super bonus that she is like-minded and has so much experience farming in the area! Total score!
It’s so exciting! I can’t wait to see how your homesteading evolves with this wonderful new property at your fingertips!

Thank you, Janet! Moving is one of my least favorite things (up there with Black Widows and mice) so i appreciate your sentiment incredibly 🙂 Let the fun begin!
Soooo excited for you! 15 varieties of grapes! And you can finally get goats :D. Can’t wait to read more about your homesteading-adventure-gone-big!!!
Leona, Thank you so much! Not sure we could have asked for much more! I think our biggest challenge now will be to go slow instead of doing all.the.things all at once 😉
Exciting! Now, what will you be doing first, or at least after the unpackng?
Wendy…Oh Man…that’s the hard part, right?! First will be to start some seeds under the grow lights…it’ll be a little late, but that’s OK. Then, we’re thinking bees, some meat birds and maybe a couple of turkeys for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Then, plant out the garden, fix the hoop house, and maybe get a couple of goats! Whew…yeah…this is going to be fun!
Congrats! What an amazing journey. I look forward to following even more of your adventures!
