“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”

“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”

Believing that we could produce more, consume less and have a positive impact on our environment, all while living on 1/8 acre in the middle of the city, this quote became the mantra of our small family as we began our journey into a homesteading way of life.

We spent 7 years building raised beds, chickens coops, and top bars bee hives, growing fruits and veggies, keeping backyard chickens and bees, and DIYing and home brewing our way from a life of pure consumerism to a life that treads just a little bit gentler on this planet of ours.

This blog, Ever Growing Farm, began as Sky Minded & Ever Growing in February of 2011 as a way to document our adventures in urban farming on 1/8 acre and now brings you along on our newest adventures in homesteading on a rented piece of property 30 minutes north of our beginnings.  You’ll find documented in this space, through stories and photos, our slow and constant journey from a life built around the instant gratification of pre-made, pre-packaged food and wares to something a little more sustainable.

You can read more about the transformation of our city plot to an urban farm here and more about us urban farmers turned rural homesteaders here.

Where the next leg of our journey will take us is so very yet to be determined, but I do hope you’ll grab the beverage of your choice and stay awhile!  We’ll be happy to have the company!

xoxo,
M
