Granny Square Blanket…Almost There

With almost six weeks invested, in tiny increments of actual Crochet Time (mostly in the truck on the commute to and from work), and 54 granny squares created, my first Granny Square Blanket (er…throw) simply needs to be stitched together!

It’s almost silly how excited I am about this simple creation 🙂

Granny Squares

Do tell…what are you creating these days?

I wish I could crochet. Or knit. I just don’t have the manual dexterity. WHich explains why I can’t play musical instruments either. I am de-crappifying my house and garage. I have been busy putting up food from the garden. I have made/ canned zucchini relish. old fashioned mustard pickles, refrigerator pickles, I made savory tomato zucchini bread, cinnamon zucchini bread, oven roasted my early sugar pie pumpkin then froze the puree, made oven roasted pumpkin seeds and froze a bunch of shredded zucchini to bake bread later on. EVENTUALLY when the garden is finished and the weather cools, I will go back to my quilting projects.

Oh man…we could stand to de-crappify, too! Instead, and while I wait for the bounty to ripen, I crochet 🙂 I am grateful every day that my mom taught me how when I was itty bitty.

Now, can we talk about your cinnamon zucchini bread and your savory tomato zucchini bread? Holy wow, do those sound good!

LOL they are pretty tasty. I will email you the recipes 🙂

I forgot to mention I also made mock apple rings..from zucchini. They were exquisite. I then made a mock apple coffee cake. No one believed it was zucchini!

Ah! Oh my goodness! Than you so much! Your mock recipes sound amazing too! Can we be neighbors?

They are beautiful colours! I can’t wait to see it finished 🙂 ive been creating in the kitchen mainly, tweaking so many recipes and even making a few up from scratch! We have a tonne of dietary considerations here, so it’s no mean feat to make something that works, especially baking!

I’m seeing that blanket you’re making me its spurred me on to bring my squares together! Mine is lap rug size though…and I’ve no idea how to bring it all together…but I think today, on this cold wet day I might just get mine finished!!!

Thank you, Linda! I was unsure about the color combo at first, but in loving it now! I’m excited to hear about how you pull your squares together! It’s so fun to piece together the puzzle of it all!

My oldest daughter has some dietary restrictions as well, so we played with so many different recipes over the years! Since she’s moved out I *almost miss the challenges, like a puzzle too, of figuring out which ingredients to swap for which so whatever we were making would be delicious *and not make her sick 😉
