Winter Storm

Winter Storm

Bright rays fighting their way through dark clouds and from behind shadows…

Dancing on mountain tops and through valleys.

An aching heart for no particular reason and for all of the reasons all at once.

Gusty, frigid winds…

Singing to the storm right on its heels.

Driving rains that come up quickly, move on at a feverish pace and then circle back again.

A fire that just *won’t start in the wood stove no matter what I do to encourage it’s warmth…

It’s comfort.

A very long day that has left still more work to be done…

And isn’t there always more work to be done?

Inside and out…

Physically and spiritually…

Behind the shadows and through the valleys?

Yes.

Maybe wine will help?

Or Spring.

Oh how I ache for Spring!

It really is just around the bend, you know…

Under the lightest, fluffiest, layer of snow…

Beyond the frigid temperatures and remaining icicles…

Calling me, taunting me, reminding me that there is still time to rest…

There is still time to prepare…

For all that lies ahead.

xoxo,
M

Without wishing winter upon myself, I wish Spring will come soon for you. Where I live we don’t get snow usually, sure it gets cold and wintery, but not so much snow ( last year was an exception…15cm in one night! ). I’m not a fan of winter either. I LOVE fall/autumn…it’s my favourite season. And Spring is good too. Winter…yeah. But I also liked your words on winter 🙂

Thank you, Linda 🙂 Winter definitely has its place, and I do enjoy the respite it allows, but come February (ever year) and I’m just over it! Wishing you a lovely slide into the next season <3

What a lovely post Melissa! I hope spring finds its way to you sooner. Love reading your blog… It’s become one of my favorite corners on the Web and I find myself browsing through your stuff just to know more about homesteading… It’s all too foreign for me but I love what I read here.

Thank you so much! It’s been quite the journey, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! <3
