The Changing Seasons – July in Review

The Changing Seasons – July in Review

July brought with it some much needed rain and many, many partly cloudy days, which may not seem like a big deal to many of you, but it a very big deal here in the high desert of northern New Mexico!

Here we’re used to drought conditions and sweltering heat through July and into August.

We’re used to praying for rains until the “monsoons” come and then wondering why they didn’t come (again) this year when we used to be able to count on them like clockwork!

We’re used to the landscape showing in shades of beige and brown…pretty much all.the.time.

We’re used to crisp vegetation underfoot, mountains and valleys ablaze in all consuming fires, and fire warnings in all surrounding forests.

Not this year, though.

This summer has been moist and green and almost humid! (Imagine that?!)

And so the garden is (finally) thriving…

And the mosquitoes are trying to kill me…

And I’ll happily take it all in exchange for some of the much needed rains we’ve been gifted with.

(I’ll happily take the rainbows those rains bring with them, too 🙂 )

Wishing you all a lovely August!

xoxo,
M

P.S. I’m linking up to the Monthly Photo Challenge hosted by Cardinal Guzman. I will be spending at least the next year tracking the temperatures, weather, and general seasons (both through photography and through simple journaling/notes on the calendar) in an attempt to set us up for our best successes. All of the photos in this post were taken over the course of the month of April. You can find last month’s photos here.

Feel free to jump in on the challenge, or just pop around to the other posts! It’s lots of fun to see what the seasons look like around the world :-)

Such a wonderful collection of images. Your farm is beautiful. Maybe my next post will be just of my garden in NJ. 🙂

Some rain is good (we’ve had too much rain this summer…).
Great crops that you can use for a lot of tasty thing. A beautiful rainbow too!
