Lately, our days have been filled to the brim with friends, family, and a walking toddler. The past couple of weeks have brought a whirlwind of activity to our lives and I couldn’t be more grateful for it…even though I am a bit exhausted!

Thanksgiving, which we always host, was filled with lots of warmth, good food and tired feet.  I always seem to forget how much work goes into a single day and shared meal.  The planning, shopping, prepping, cooking of it all…whew!  I made, for the very first time, the Pumpkin and Pecan Pies, fully from scratch, which was easier than I thought in some respects, but was also a bit stressful…you know, because who wants to mess up the pies?! 😉

The Thanksgiving weekend also brought about Sprout’s first real journey into walking (all on her own and everywhere possible), a visit from my very best friend since childhood, my 38th birthday!  Needless to say, our lives have completely flipped upside down now with Sprout literally running circles around us (and yes, I’m feeling old with all the running around I’m doing while she explores every nook and cranny)!

With warm, sunshiny days (aside from a few rainy ones, which we’ll happily take), we’ve been spending as much time as we can outside…often in the backyard with the chickens.  Sprout, with her new found Super Mobility, is a bit leery of the chickens and their own ability to walk right up to her, follow her around, and investigate whichever snack she may have in her hands at the time.  We’re working on her feeling safe around the Crazy Dinosaur Birds and she seems to be doing a bit better each day we go out there.

This year, for the first time in a long time, we will not be travelling for the holidays. While I will miss spending time with all of our MO family and friends, I have to admit that I am a bit relieved to have the opportunity to just enjoy quiet celebration in our new home over the next few weeks.  It’s been a very busy year and, truth be told, some quiet days and nights leading up to Solstice and the lengthening of the days will allow for the easiest possible transition into the coming year and the next chapter of our lives.

Wishing you all love and light.

xoxo,
M
