Tempered by the grief that has blanketed our poultry experiences over the past several months…
And bolstered by the never ending hope that exists within day to day farm life and our absolute trust in the goodness of the Earth…
I am so very excited and incredibly proud to introduce the very first chicken chick to hatch on Ever Growing Farm!
Our first hatchling is half White Leghorn and half Easter Egger (AKA *all mutt* in addition to being hatched out by our lone Maran) and is all fluff and cuteness!
I cannot wait to see what s/he grows up to be!

That is sweet!!!! She will be so super attentive to that one baby that’s for sure! I’m looking forward to spring and hatching another bunch of babies here…my only issue is space…..we’re at maximum for the council rules, as well as the space they live in ( don’t wanna be a factory farm lol ) so we might need to hatch, raise and sell/give away 😬 Fluff will be worth it right?!
Oh how adorable! What a relief you have a surviving hatchling. So how many are remaining, waiting to hatch?

Well, there are three eggs still under her…but we’re thinking we’ll have to take them in the next day if there’s still no movement. Our single hatchling sure is the cutest, though!
