Everything Else

2016 into 2017

2016 was quite a doozie, but they really all are, aren’t they?

If we’re paying attention, staying present, pushing ourselves to learn more/do more/be more. . .

If we’re standing firmly in our Learning Zone, open to new ideas and opportunities, growing, changing, evolving as people on this planet, then Challenge is really just around every corner, isn’t it?

And yet, every single step has brought us right here, to this brand new moment full of hope and potential and love and inspiration, hasn’t it?

And so, though 2016 was, in fact, an actual doozie with all of it’s chick and chicken deaths, broad breasted turkey broken legs and compressed lungs, bucks instead of does, drought and garden loss, milking challenges and missing cats, exhaustion and disappointment, it was also full of so much learning and growth and paths for the way forward.

2016 holds the grace of new life being born on the property. It holds the knowledge of better planting practices and watering processes. It holds the release of responsibility over the occurrences that I truly have no control over. It holds the creativity to think outside of the box of Preconceived Notions of the Perfect Farm Variety. It holds the humble acknowledgement that we don’t have to try to do all.of.the.things right now even though we may want to.

And so, while I’m happy to see 2016 go. . .to release it like the shedding of a skin that no longer fits me. . .I’m happier to welcome 2017 in with an open heart. . .with the wonder, curiosity, and presence it deserves.

We’ll take the lessons 2016 gifted us and turn them into action items for the New Year. . .

Heritage Turkeys! Hatching our own chicks! Crossing our fingers for more does than bucks in the spring! Planting local/drought tolerant seeds! Being gentle and kind to ourselves! Staying open to whatever this ever-growing wild ride has to offer us in the year ahead!

Cheers to all that’s been and all that’s yet to manifest, my friends!

May 2017 bring you all of the joy and abundance your heart can handle (and then some)!

xoxo,
M
