I’m so glad you’re here, taking steps to eat a more locally sourced diet as a part of the 2016 Local Bite Mini Challenge revival of a portion of the 2014 massive challenge!
This year, in an attempt at re-focusing my attention on my intention to eat more locally grown foods, I thought it might be fun to spend a bit of time each week focusing on a mini challenge 🙂
Feel free to play along with any or all of the 14 Local Bite Mini Challenges or pick and choose which ones you’d like to challenge yourself with. It doesn’t matter how many you complete, as long as you’re taking a few steps toward a more local diet and learning about your local food systems!
Here are the challenges as I’ll be doing them:
Week One (June 6 – 12) – One Item
Week Two (June 13 – 19) – Sow Some Seeds!
Week Three (June 20 – 26) – One Meal!
Week Four (June 27 – July 3) – Restaurant Week!
Week Five (July 4 – 10) – U Pick Farms!
Week Six (July 11 – 17) – Swap One Non-Food Item
Week Seven (July 18 – 24) – Community Supported Agriculture!
Week Eight (July 25 – 31) – Community Gardens!
Week Nine (August 1 – 7) – Food Origins!
Week Ten (August 8 – 14) – Swap One Beverage!
Week Eleven (August 15 – 21) – Use It All!
*Week Twelve (August 22 – 28) – Preserve!
*Week Thirteen (August 29 – September 4) – Local Bite Food Independence Potluck!
Week Fourteen (September 5 – 11) – Make a Plan!
Please feel free to share any experiences you have on each weekly post about the challenge and, if you’re on social media, please use #localbite so we can all see what we’re up to throughout each week.
xoxo,
M
*I swapped these two challenges from their places in the 2014 challenge to coincide with our U.S. Labor Day, being a potluck friendly long weekend and all 🙂
