We all know that there are a million things to be concerned about in this world, right? And getting sick is just one of those things, right? So, as I sit here fighting a bit of a cold and watching the news about antibiotic resistance, super bugs and weird outbreaks, I thought it might be nice to put a positive spin on it all (instead of letting it all freak me out), without getting too complicated. Because, really, who needs complicated when there are plenty of other things to focus on, right? Right!
So, without further ado, here are a few simple ways to boost your immune system…
Stress Less, Live More!
Go for a hike. Meditate. Listen to music. Go to a Comedy Club and laugh your heart out. Have a picnic. Dance. Take a nap. Spend time with friends. Take a class you’ve always wanted to take (painting? pottery? a new language?). Go on a date. Treat yourself to a cup of tea. Watch a movie.
Love Your Body!
Eat more fruits and veggies. Stay hydrated. Exercise in unconventional ways (dance again, take the long way to the mailbox, do jumping jacks during TV commercials, go for a bike ride…). Spend a little time in the sunshine (Vitamin D from the sun is good for you in moderation). Eat cultured foods (sauerkraut, yogurt, kimchi). Sleep more. Eat mushrooms. Research immunity boosting herbs (my favorite, as you may know by now, is Echinacea). Use natural soaps.
Get Dirty!
Plant a garden. Play in the river. Spend time with animals. Visit a farm. Play with your kids outside.
Now, will doing these simple things keep you from ever getting sick? Of course not. They just might, however, help you feel a better every single day which will, in turn, help you fight off the bag bugs when they head your way 🙂 So, go forth and boost your immune system!
xoxo,
