2013 Kitchen Garden & Coop Tour

Earlier this year we were nominated by an old friend for the Homegrown New Mexico Kitchen Garden & Coop Tour which has been held each summer for the past few years.

After a few emails, a visit/walk-through and a bit of waiting we were notified that we had been accepted into this years tour!  We are so incredibly excited (and honestly, a little nervous) to be selected for this tour!  We have worked incredibly hard on our little space and are excited to be able to share it with anyone who is interested in how to keep chickens and grow their own food with limited acreage.

Here’s a little blurb about the tour from the masterminds of the whole thing, Home Grown NM:

There are six locations with seven gardens featured. The garden tour is self-paced so in 2012, nearly 400 guests drove to the homes in any order that they selected with a wrist band to identify them. The homeowners will be the main tour guides, but also have help from the Master Gardeners and volunteers from each location to review gardens, chickens, bees and any other self-sustaining items such as solar, water catchment and more. Cold drinks will be available at each location sponsored by Whole Foods.

If you’re local and would like to participate in this years tour, not only will we be happy to have you, but there is also a discount being offered on ticket prices through the end of the month.  Tickets are normally $35 each on Brown Paper Tickets and all of the proceeds are used to offer free gardening, cooking and homesteading-type classes to the public throughout the year.  However, the Early Bird special will run through June and offers 50% off all tickets prices!  When purchasing tickets, type EGGPLANT in the “Enter a Password or Discount Code” section to receive your discount

The tour will be held on July 28th which also happens to be our 7th Anniversary.  While I don’t doubt that the whole experience will be enlightening and thoroughly exhausting, I honestly can’t think of a more fitting way to spend our anniversary than in a celebration of all we’ve built together over the past several years!

xoxo,
M

  1. That is so exciting! I have always wanted to be on a garden tour, but there aren’t any around here anymore. Maybe I’ll have to organize one someday…wouldn’t that be a hoot?

Can’t wait to hear how it goes!

    1. Oohhh…yes! Organizing one would be a lot of work, I’m sure, but oh so FUN! I’ll be sure to post about it all 🙂
