Harvest

Harvest Monday

Happy Monday everyone!

Amazingly, in this time of bountiful harvests, I haven’t actually been harvesting very often!  Not because there wasn’t anything to harvest, but because other life-happenings have been getting in the way.  Nothing to worry about though, everything’s fine…just very busy these days (is this becoming a theme/habit?).

Remarkably, I failed to even notice last week that I had broken last years harvest totals!  Talk about being distracted!

Well, this week is even more exciting (especially since I’m paying attention) because we have broken the  200 pound 11 ounce goal I set for us last November as part of my 101 in 1001 list!  My goal had been to harvest 10% more this year than last year and, at this point, we’ve more than surpassed it!  Right now, we’ve harvested 211 pounds and 9 ounces and the garden is still producing nicely!  This is quite exciting!  I can’t wait to see what continues to roll in over the next several weeks 🙂

The first Happy Yummy Pepper of the year!
It’s orange like it should be, was pretty sweet and pretty hot!
I was nicely surprised!

This weeks totals:
  • Apples = 1 lb 14 oz
  • Basil = 6 oz
  • Cucumbers
    • Lemon = 4 lb 8 oz
  • Mint = 8 oz
  • Mixed Greens = 6 oz
  • Peppers
    • Bell = 4 oz
    • Happy Hot = 3 oz
    • Happy Yummy = 2 oz
    • Mystery = 2 oz
    • Shishito = 2 oz
  • Pole Beans = 11 oz
  • Tomatillos = 1 lb 4 oz
  • Tomatoes = 11 lb 2 oz
  • Zucchini = 3 lb 12 oz
  • Eggs = 66

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!
Happy harvesting!

  1. Congratulations on passing 200 lbs! Harvest looks wonderful, interesting lemon cucumbers.

  2. Congrats on all your record breaking. I am really busy at the moment too and I too feel like I’m mentioning it in every other blog post but if I don’t then I feel guilty that I simply don’t have as much time as I’d like to read and comment on other blogs….oh the ridiculousness of guilt…

  3. A really great looking harvest again this week. Congrats on reaching your goal! We really stretched this year on our goal and I’m a little worried we are not going to make it. Of course we still have pumpkins and potatoes waiting in the wings!!

    1. Thanks! You know, I made the goal thinking it would be achievable…but at the same time, I also made goals for 2013 and 2014…to grow 10% more each year. So, with this year being so great, I am unsure about the coming years. But I guess that’s one of nature’s jokes, right? Make all the plans you want and then just wait and see because we really have so little power over the outcome of it all! 😉

  4. That is wonderful! I didn’t set an actual poundage goal this year, but decided I wanted to eat something from the garden every day and I’ve pretty well managed that. Sometimes just a side dish, sometimes a whole meal. I might make more definite goals for next year after I review this years data.

    1. Oooohhh, I love this idea! Did you limit it to items directly harvested to were preserved items OK?

  5. Congrats on surpassing your goal! Your harvest look so bright and colorful and delicious!

  6. Congratulations on exceeding your goal! How wonderful.

  7. It’s always fun to not only make your goals … but then far exceed them. Congratulations. That Happy Yummy pepper sure looks good!
