Songs of Summer

I plant sweet corn not only because I adore the taste of it…but because I am also in love with the way the wind dances through its leaves, singing its beautiful songs of summer…

  1. That green creature is a katydid and you need to kill it! They love to eat holes in all your leaves, so do grasshoppers! They are not our garden friends!

    1. Thanks for the heads up! Stinkin’ thing disappeared after I got distracted! Hopefully it hopped off to another garden 😉

    1. Thanks, Jody! Our warm spring allowed us to plant out a little earlier than usual, so everything’s quite big already 🙂

  2. That last picture is beautiful!

Yeah, grasshoppers are voracious eaters of most green veggies.

  3. Haven’t seen any epic grasshoppers as you have there, however, I have had to chase off the fat rabbits from eating the leaves many, many times. 😀 I really want it to get over my head and be able to walk through it like Russell Crowe in gladiator with my hands outstretched (although that was barley I think)

    1. Oh yes! That scene in Gladiator was quite beautiful! I would love to be able to walk through a field like that, too!!!
