What do you do when you have a ton of lumber left over from a steal of a deal? Make shelves, of course!!!
Yes, this is part of our garage. Gross, over run, SO ready for an overhaul! |
Here’s another part of the garage. These shelves were here when we moved in. They’re nice in theory, but not in practice. |
Another view of the madness. Tool Lady is on the right hand side of the pic, measuring out a few of our new shelves. |
Tool Lady, putting in the skeleton of one set of new shelves |
A few of the new shelves on their braces, though not secured yet. |
Completed set of shelves on one side of the garage. |
Preliminary organization on the new shelves. |
This project will take a few weeks, involve lots of shit shuffling, a garage sale, more building…including a work bench for Tool Lady and lots more organization! It should be quite magical when it’s all done 🙂

Great job! Doesn’t it feel so good when you can see all your stuff organized AND possibly get rid of things you thought you couldn’t live without?
oh man…there is so much shit in that garage! It really amazes me that we have accumulated so much stuff over the past 5 years!!! A garage sale is definitely in order!!!
That looks great, I need to put some shelving in my laundry – any chance she’s visiting Australia anytime soon? He, he, he. I do wish I was better at building stuff. Perhaps I need to do a course…
Ha! I don’t think there are any immediate plans to visit Australia but it’s on our long term vacation list for sure. You probably want to get those shelves up before then, though, ha? 😉
fantastic shelving, def agree with the happy hippy- we need some how to guides!
Thanks Sarah! I mentioned above that we’re weighing our options…video tutorials…more Tool Lady posts…we’ll see what she decides 🙂
OMG – THE WOMAN IS A GENIUS!!! and yes I am shouting!! : ))
If she is in need of a caribbean trip, there is much work to do here….
Failing that, perhaps she should video a “How to….” series of tutorials. x
Ha! I know, right?! She really is quite amazing! And hey, we’ll totally take an island vacation in order to get some work done…maybe we should really chat about that someday 😉
I mentioned the video tutorials to her and she’s thinking about it. Hopefully I can, at least, get her to write up a couple more posts about how she does what she does 🙂
If I’d transformed my garage like you have, I’d be going out there again and again just to look at it. You too? Did you ever think you’d go out to the garage for no other reason than to enjoy looking at it.
Ha! Yes! I totally do that! Pretty funny how that happens, ha?
Stunning – and nothing better than getting organised to clear out the cobwebs from one’s head 🙂
Ha! Absolutely! I could use some clearing of cobwebs, for sure 😉
A great start for spring cleaning. Looks like it will finished quicker than estimated.
Fingers crossed!!!
Wow, that looks way cool! I love being organized like that. It does, as Dani said, sort of clear out your mind and makes things seem less hectic. Tell her “nice job!”
Thanks, 1st Man. From Tool Lady & myself 😉
looks good so far! The shallow shelves would be great for gardening stuff, bottles of cleaners, etc…
Thanks for the suggestions! I think it’ll be amazing to have actual shelf space to organize the big and little things that tend to just get lost in the shuffle 🙂
