Alright, so I finally got into the hoop houses again on Saturday. The sun was shining beautifully and it was quite warm outside…scary warm for February, actually. I checked everything out, watered the fruit trees and just enjoyed the sun on my back for a bit. I didn’t, however, take any pics. I know, I know, crazy right?! You’ll just have to take my word for it…everything looks great! The spinach is starting to size up, the kale is recovering from…well, whatever has been kicking its ass, the lettuce is starting to look like lettuce, the turnips actually sprouted enough to call for thinning and the carrots…well, they looked so good I just had to pull a few for a taste! I mean, really…how else would I know that they’re itty bitty and need a LOT more time?!
- Mixed Greens = 1 ounce
- Spinach = 1 ounce
- Carrots = 1 ounce
- Eggs = 15 (yep…again!)

cute little yummy carrots! Its so hard waiting. I am still waiting for most of my root veggies.
Bee Girl
We’re still waiting on most of ours, too. It’s so hard, but I know it’ll be more than worth the wait 🙂
Jody
15 eggs! That’s great. How many birds do you have?
Bee Girl
We have 7 laying hens right now but just got 9 new chicks. 15 eggs is great…and I won’t complain too much…but I do look forward to it warming up a bit so the ladies can REALLY start laying again!
Lynns Urban Garden Diary
Your carrots look great! 🙂
Lynn
Bee Girl
Thanks, Lynn! I hope the rest will size up nicely!
Mary Hysong
I like carrots at any size; love that red/purple one, is it Dragon?
Bee Girl
Yes, they are Dragons! I absolutely LOVE Dragons 🙂

Nothing like sweet baby carrots. With the longer day lengths and the increasing sun strength – your covered bed should continue to thrive and grow.
Bee Girl
Fingers crossed! No doubt 🙂
Liz
Like everyone else I want to say the carrots look great. Mine usually don’t get much past that stage either – as a result of either the kids or my impatience usually.
Bee Girl
Yeah…that whole impatience thing…it’ll get you every time! 😉
Norma Chang
It’s the quality not the quantity. Your baby carrots are darling.
Bee Girl
Thanks, Norma! I couldn’t agree more!
Barbie
MMMmmmm those are prefect sized carrots – who you kidding? THose are the best for eating! LOL.
Bee Girl
Ha! Thanks, Barbie!

That’s sometimes as big as our carrots get, period. Root crops are our Achilles Heel 🙂
Bee Girl
Achilles Heel, ha? Well, that’s no fun!
Dave
I got zero carrots going, and yours look great!
Bee Girl
Zero carrots?! I hope you have plans of putting some in the ground! Not sure I could live without at least a few in the ground!
wilderness
Some times that is as big as my carrots get so enjoy. They are really sweet at that stage.
Bee Girl
Oh…they were SO sweet! I could live on baby carrots 🙂
