After the Rain – Garden Visitors

Last night, after a full day of cloudy skies and wonderful, soft rains, I took the opportunity to walk through the garden.  It was a little chilly and quite moist and so very nice to see everything looking happy and refreshed!

While admiring all of our echinacea blossoms, I was a little surprised to find a visitor on one of the petals…

This little guy looked a little worse for the wear and, honestly, at first I thought he was dead.  However, after a few pictures and a closer look, I could see that he was still alive.  Maybe not for long, but for a while.  I’m thinking it got caught in the rain and thought it could wait it out…you know, since it almost never rains here all day long.  Usually our rains come in short spurts, not all day affairs.  I’m not complaining though, not at all!

Anyhow, after a few minutes, curious to see if there were any other little guys hanging out on the echinacea, I looked just to the left of the bee’s blossom and saw this little guy…

Do you see him?
Here’s a closer look…

Not sure what kind of spider he is, but he sure is pretty!  I love the little face on his back!  Do you see it? So cool!

The forecast for the week ahead is calling for continued cooler temperatures and more rain.  I’ll happily take it all.

xoxo,
M

That little spider with a face is beautiful. Here the strangest insect we have is a kind of wasp that paralyzes a spider or caterpillar and lay its eggs on it. I have often see them bury their victim. Nature, red in tooth and claw!

Wow! That’s some crazy wasp!!! Nature can be pretty intense, can’t it? I much prefer the cute little spider over the paralyzing wasp 😉
