Harvest Monday

Happy Monday everyone!

Well, things aren’t incredibly exciting here in the way of harvests now.  We do, however, still have a few tomato vines that are holding onto some beautiful fruits (a Barnes Mountain Yellow, two Orange Flesh Purple Smudges and an Italian Heirloom), though they are ripening rather slowly with the cooler weather and shorter days!  They will have to, unfortunately, be stripped later this week as freezing temps are forecasted for several days in a row.  Oh well…it was only a matter of time, right?  Besides, our first “harvesting” of goat milk was excitement enough for one week 😉

This weeks totals:
  • Sage = 1 oz
  • Tomatoes = 5 lb 7 oz 
  • Eggs = 23…cooler temps + a few molting chickens = not a whole lot of eggs

    Sweet news about the goats milk! Though I guess it could turn sour if you make yogurt ;-). I always hate to see the tomatoes go too.

    Oh, I think Your harvest looks absolutely Yummy, but goats milk – Yes, Please – that´s really interesting! Wish I lived more rural, so I could keep them here! Have a nice week! 🙂 Mia

    Enjoy them while you can! I brought in the last of the tomatoes this weekend as the plants were going down with fungus since our cold fall rains arrived this past week. I have a bunch of greenies that may or may not ripen up off the vine, but I usually manage to get some that way to extend the season at least a little.

      Vine ripened tomatoes are the best, but I’ll take a few green-turned-red-indoors any day over the store bought “tomatoes”! Hope those greenies turn beautifully for you!

      Oh yes…we are definitely enjoying the goat milk 🙂 Grateful, too, to still have a few sun ripened tomatoes!
