Harvest Monday

Harvest Monday

Happy Monday everyone!!!

I’ve been kind of MIA form this space over the last couple of weeks, save for a few random posting here and there.  No real excuses, just life.  Luckily, though, the garden and it’s production doesn’t care if I miss a few posts in Blog Land…I hope you don’t mind either 😉

The garden is still in high productivity mode, despite the cooler temperatures we’ve had around here over the past couple of weeks.  While I’m not fully ready for Fall yet, the cool mornings make for an enjoyable cup of tea while strolling through the garden (or just sitting on the back steps)!

Harvest wise, our apples are not quite ready for a full on harvest.  However, they’re making for nice little snacks on a fairly regular basis 🙂  Likewise, our tomatillos aren’t fully ready either, but a few have made their way into our kitchen.  The winter squash really shouldn’t be ready yet…but a few of the vines have basically disentigrated, so I took that as a sign to bring them in.  They’re pretty small and I’m not sure how well they’ll store, but I’m also not sure how long they’ll really last in the pantry once the temperatures really drop and I’m longing for the warm earthiness they have to offer!

This weeks totals:
  • Apples = 12 oz
  • Basil = 4 oz
  • Bush Beans = 12 oz
  • Cucumbers
    • Lemon = 1 lb 14 oz
  • Hubbard Squash = 1 lb 8 oz
  • Oregano = 2 oz
  • Peppers
    • Bell = 10 oz
    • Jalapenos = 1 oz
    • Mystery = 9 oz
    • Shishito = 3 oz
  • Pumpkin = 1 lb 10 oz
  • Summer Squash = 1 lb 7 oz
  • Swiss Chard = 8 oz
  • Tomatillos = 12 oz
  • Tomatoes =  11 lb 8 oz
  • Zucchini = 2 lb 7 oz
  • Eggs = 71

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!
Happy harvesting!

Great harvest! I’m surprised to hear your tomatillos are just getting started. Ours, strangely enough, are now finishing up. Go figure. I hope your squash ripens nicely and makes great winter soup. We kept ours in the window to ripen them. It seemed to work well.

WOW! 71 eggs in one week?? I wouldn’t know what to do with all them. Harvest looks marvelous.

Got to love those hens! The pumpkin may be small but it sure is pretty. I envy you those beautiful fresh apples. Yum!

What a beautiful harvest. I’m jealous of the apples, we don’t have any fruit trees yet so we have to wait for the apples to be ready at the farmers market!! But we have plenty of melons and berries right now so I guess we will live!!

Oh man…I am super excited about our little fruit trees this year! I might trade you an apple tree (we only have two) for some healthy berries, though…we’ve yet to grow a successful berry!

Nice varied harvest and impressive eggs collection. I brought in a few of my butternuts because of the critters.

I’m continually impressed by the number of eggs our ladies are producing these days! It’s both overwhelming and super exciting at the same time!!!

what a lovely harvest! I had a few winter squash with dried up stems also, but the vines are still growing and producing!

It’s been an interesting year for winter squash, no doubt! Ah well…at this point I’ll be happy with what I get!

Ah, what you have harvested looks great! Same situation here with the winter squash; I brought a few in because the vines had dried up.
