Recycled Celery

About a week ago I was pulling off a few stalks of store bought celery when I remembered a friend of mine saying that she had cut her celery off its base and plopped that base back into a bowl of water.  Shortly thereafter, she said it was growing new celery stalks!

What?!  Celery can re-grow?  Yeah right!  Wait…that sounds amazing, but really???

Well, I guess she was right because I’ve now seen it on a couple of different blogs and have started one myself!  Who knew?  Now all we do is wait!  Once it gets itself a bit more established, apparently I can put it in the ground and it will continue to grow!  I’ll keep you posted on its progress!

You’re welcome! I love finding crazy things and trying them out. We’ll see how it all turns out 🙂

You can do this with green onions too I believe!

I treat all my celery plants as cut and come again plants – although I usually only harvest a stalk or two at a time – but perhaps I could be harvesting more…

Interesting…I love the concept of cut and come again celery! I’ve never grown celery in the garden, so we’ll see how this works out!
