A Huge Planting Day!!!

Today was a big…er…HUGE planting day!  We planted about a million (no joke) seeds in our front and back yards in addition to a ton and a half of Wild Flower seeds both in beds and back behind our Top Bar Hive (the bees should arrive this week)!  We still have another couple of weeks until our guaranteed frost free nights, but I thought it was worth a shot.  Here’s what went in the ground today…

Back Yard – Tool Lady planting our Potatoes

All of this is in addition to the Lemon Cucumbers, Bell Peppers, Tomatoes, Carrots, Jalapenos, Basil, Snap Peas, Beets, Onions, Garlic, Echinacea, Arugula, Radishes, Spinach & Lettuce, plus the Blueberries, Black Berries, Raspberries & fruit trees already in the ground and not counting the Kale, Spinach and Lettuce that will soon be pulled out (I’m thinking about letting it go to seed…) to make room for some Turnips, fall Broccoli and some more Tomatoes.

One of our new raised beds in the Back Yard.  This one holds Sunflowers, Acorn Squash and Dragon Carrots.  The 3 rocks are holding the space for 3 Tomatoes that have yet to be purchased

Tool Lady still thinks I’m a little out of control with all the seeds and the variety of veggies I’m planting this year, but I’m excited.  I really want to figure out a way to track our expenditures for this year in comparison to what we are able to harvest.  When I figure that out, I’ll let you know!  I’m sure it will be a process!

As for flowers…today I planted lots of Sunflowers, Morning Glories, Holly Hocks, Cosmos and tons of Wildflower mix to help the bees.

Now all we have to do is wait!  As soon as things start to sprout, we’ll lay a nice, thick layer of mulch down to help with our lack of water.  I have a sneaking suspicion that this year is going to be horribly dry.
