So much hope!

So much hope!

I was very worried after the little snow storm we got on April Fools Day, but hope remains :-) Now, there are still many nights between now and our guaranteed last frost date, but for now the bees are buzzing, the butterflies are fluttering, and the fruit trees are holding on. Maybe...just maybe...we'll have a good fruit year this year.…
Greens & Things

Greens & Things

As you may know about me by now, I always have such great intentions about growing a magnificent fall garden that will (naturally) evolve into a productive winter garden which will set us up for an incredibly bountiful spring... And then I become exhausted by summer's hectic schedule and distracted by fall's fall and enveloped by winter's hibernation... And then…
Let the planting season officially begin!

Let the planting season officially begin!

We didn't know for sure when they might open up the flood gates...we were told sometime between "Holy weekend" and April 1st...and so yesterday afternoon, with the dogs barking anxiously and a strange truck stopped down by one end of our property line, we were happy to realize that it was the Mayordomo checking the line as all the debris…

Happy Spring!

With a very busy weekend almost complete... Full of: Cultivating the garlic and up-potting tomatoes... Moving our compost pile and spending quality time with the ducks... Sowing peas and beans and greens... & Feeling so very grateful for our…

Early Apricot Blossoms

Early Apricot Blossoms

With two full months to go before our guaranteed last frost date, I've found myself incredibly torn by the pure beauty of these apricot blossoms (tickling my already antsy Spring Fever) and the acknowledgement that, unless we have a phenomenally warm spring with no frosts or freezes, these gorgeous flowers this early in March means we probably won't get an Apricot harvest…
Seed Starting…

Seed Starting…

Yes, it is early. Yes, this is all part of my plan to succession sow our way to Garden Abundance in 2016. Yes, these are tomato sprouts (though I've also started a few peppers, eggplants, and tomatillos as well). Yes, these babies will require much TLC and up-potting before they can go in the ground. Yes, it will all be…
