Holding Steady

Holding Steady

The mice are moving into and taking over the chicken coop, but so are the (baby) bull snakes.

The hose that feeds the water to the chicken coop busted, spewing water all over the place, but it’s almost time to remove it anyway and unhook it from the spigots due to impending frosts, so we’ll just remove it now and not worry about setting it up again next spring.

The Bourbon Red turkeys are getting spritely AKA independent AKA a little attitudey, but they’re gaining weight and sizing up nicely so it might just be worth all their shenanigans in the end.

Also, just when I thought their poop couldn’t possibly get any larger or any stinkier, it has, but their feathers are more gorgeous than ever, too.

The laying hens are a hot mess due to Rooster Stress, Fall Molting, and (probably) the Great Mice Invasion, but the two Newbies (this year’s Marans), are holding steady and consistent.

Small victories are sometimes the best victories, aren’t they?  Even if the positivity around them has to be just a bit forced so as to remember that perspective (and gratitude) really is everything.

Also, this happened and helped just a little 😉 :
