Shop Small Businesses, Vote With Your Dollars

Shopping at both small businesses and local businesses has become one of my favorite things to do.  Not only do they usually offer unique, good quality items, I can walk away (from the building or the internet), feeling as good as possible about my purchases!  Why?  Because I know exactly where my money is going!

So, in the spirit of supporting small businesses, I thought I’d share a few of my favorites here with you!  Once you’ve checked them all out, I’d love to hear from you all about your favorites small businesses in the comments below 🙂

Acorn Hill Handcrafts
Teri, of the blog Homestead Honey, and her husband are the team behind Acorn Hill Handcrafts, which is inspired by their connection to the forest and prairie surrounding their NE Missouri homestead. They work with a variety of natural materials to offer items of function and beauty. If I could afford it, I would own one of everything, it’s all just so incredibly beautiful.

Teri has, generously, given you, my faithful readers, your very own discount code!  Just enter HOMESTEAD10 at checkout.

Fed By Threads
If you’ve been a reader here for a while, you have probably heard me talk about Alok and Jade from Fed By Threads before. Their mission includes feeding hungry Americans, revitalizing U.S. garment manufacturing to create jobs, & using sustainable fabrics to protect our environment. Wonderful, right? Plus, they’re great people who aren’t afraid to dream big and they make the best feeling clothes I’ve ever had the privilege of wearing.

Wonderful! A great tribute to businesses you support, bravo.
I hope more people begin to catch on to the importance of local economy. People think its too expensive to shop outside of the giant retail outlets but rarely are the hidden costs of tax subsidies and long term economic effects considered. If we paid the actual cost of merch from wal-marts and such they would be twice as expensive! I think its important along with the push for more local support to encourage people to support ending subsidization of large corporations so the playing field levels and small business can compete fairly!!
    Whew, ok, end rant haha
    Have a great day!

Joby, yes to all that you said. We are so disconnected from so many aspects of our society and what it all really means and takes to keep things running “smoothly”. Thanks for being here and for being on the same page! Slowly people will learn as long as we keep talking 😉 Cheers!

Thanks for including my shop amongst such wonderful company, Melissa! Happy Thanksgiving!
