I have to admit, I almost didn’t make it here today.
Between sheer exhaustion and a full blown stomach flu over the weekend (which is still rumbling today), it’s been a rough few days, but I made it!
And, despite my super busy work day on Saturday, I did in fact remember to purchase a new-to-me item for last week’s Local Bite mini challenge at the Farmers’ Market!
To be honest, I have yet to eat more than a small taste of what I purchased (see above), but I am still excited about it, none-the-less and have begun pinning a few recipes to choose from and am obviously craving some pasta 😉
Now, while oyster mushrooms may not be new to this house, this particular yellow variety is new to us, so I’m counting it!
If you’re playing along, what did you purchase as your new-to-you, locally grown item? Please share what you purchased and how you ate it in the comments below!
Now, are you ready for this week’s challenge? Good!
Sow Some Seeds
Our challenge this week is to sow some seeds!
Torture, right 😉
Whether you live in an apartment or have acres to plant out, this is the week to push a few seeds into soil!
Or, maybe you’re like me and already have a good portion of your planting done but could benefit from some succession sowing?
Now’s the time!
I have a good chunk of the garden that has been left all alone that could really benefit from a final planting of corn and some cucumbers so my plan is to get that done this coming weekend!
You know…after rest, healing, and a full work week…
Before you go, though, please pop on over and check out a post my friend Tatiana wrote for our first Local Bite Challenge in 2014 that provides some resources for all of us on our journeys into eating a more locally sourced diet.
Hope you have a lovely week ahead, Friends!
