Hatch Green Chile – An Ever Growing Giveaway

Hatch Green Chile – An Ever Growing Giveaway

I am so very excited to be kicking off 2014 with this phenomenal giveaway!

As I’ve mentioned before in my posts about storing , canning and cooking, hatch green chile is an absolute staple in our house! It is eaten at least once a week, more often than not though, it is eaten several times a week ๐Ÿ˜‰ So, imagine my excitement when Berridge Farms (the very farm we purchase our green chile from each year) commented on one of my posts and offered to work with me to offer you, Dear Readers, a phenomenal giveaway!

Before we get into the actual giveaway, though, I’d like to introduce you to Berridge Farmsย and give you a little bit of information about them and the whole hatch green chile growing/harvesting and eating experience!

A Few Factoids:

  • Berridge Farms is run by three generations of Berridges including the nice folks who make the trip up to Santa Fe each year so we can purchase our annual stash
  • Berridge Farms sits on 300 acres located in the Hatch Valley in Southern New Mexico
  • Hatch green chile is full of so manyย nutrients!
  • Hatch Green Chile is technically only grown in the Hatch Valley, although many chain grocery stores (and some smaller operations) will sell “hatch” chile that is actually not from Hatch, but instead from other farms and, sometimes, even other countries! So, if you’re look for pure Hatch green chile, be sure to ask your vendor for some more information before forking over your hard earned cash!

Alright, are you ready for the actual giveaway?! ย I though so!

What an awesome , and unique, give away!!! I prefer my green chile mild – so I’ve been missing it, since ABQ serve it too hot for me, and I don’t go to Las Cruces often ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Marisol garcia

Frowning up in Santa Fe and then moving to California several years ago always leaves me craving New Mexico hatch green chili. In use it in green chili enchiladas and stew and anything else I can make! I like mild to medium chili!

  3. Dorothy Teel

My daughter in law started eating these when stationed with Army at White Sands Missle base we have had some shipped to her on our trips through that area to California and they love it they Love the Big Jim Medium hot and she uses it on burgers, in scrambled eggs on tacos, and I think she would use it in a cake if she could adapt the recipe.

  4. Jacquelilne

Big Jim!!! Due to my own actions, I am constant state of deprivation. The question posed started me drooling. I love green chile on everything, from pizza to eating it whole wrapped up in a tortilla.

  5. Danielle Donley

We canned salsa for the first time last year..loving it!! Would live to have these peppers to add to it..we like mild, but could probably go to a medium pepper.

I love the Sandia Hot! I order a large amount every season as I live in Maryland now. I Use them to make Chicken Enchiladas, and Green Chile cheese burgers. And there is nothing like a Bean burro covered in a green chile sauce. Occasionally I will mix in a bit of barker extra hot to heat things up a bit. Love my green chile.

  8. Kathy L

I would LOVE the medium Big Jim. I love Green chilie cheeseburgers and Green chilie enchiladas. Used to live in NM and sure do miss going to the grocery store when the big roasters were going. Love the smell. Thanks for the opportunity

Luv me some HOT BIG JIM chili … they come to Utah once a year and I stand in line for hours waiting to get them roasted. Eat them on everything from a slice of bread to chili verde, eggs, soup and pizza. Can’t live without them ๐Ÿ™‚

I love the Big Jim medium to medium hot.. I lived in New Mexico for a short time, but, fell in LOVE with the taste of the chiles.. Rellenos, and everything else I could put them in.. Need to share them with my fellow Californians so they can taste the BEST as I have..

  11. Lisa Jaramillo

Love, Love, Love my Berridge farms big Jim green chile’s. We roast them on the bbq grill, and bag them up to get us through the winter. We make a big pan of green chile with pork. Beans and tortilla’s , YUM!!

  12. Nessie

I like to mix the mold and medium chiles. That way you get the flavor and the heat. We love to take them camping and have scrambled eggs and chiles for breakfast. Warms us right up!

  13. Carol Lynn

I love the Big Jim Medium or even the Medium Hot depending on what I want to make. We love making Chili Verde, New Mexico Enchilada Casserole and Hatch Pozole just to name a few!

  14. Scott Hricsina

I prefer Sandia chile peppers. I grew up in Albuquerque, and my favorite way to eat them is in Green Chile Chicken Enchiladas! My second favorite way to eat them is to dice them and put them in, or on, everything else I eat. Green chile stew, rellenos, breakfast burritos, on burgers, on pizza, posole, in mac ‘n’ cheese, in salsa, in guacamole… the list goes on and on!

  15. Thomas Mick

I like the Hot Sandia chiles. We moved from Colorado to North Carolina and the thing I miss the most is the availability of Green Chile’s they just don’t have them here.

  16. Kasey Murillo

My favorite are Big Jim Rellenos. My favorite ways to use them chopped is in homemade salsa and green chilie chicken enchiladas. For whole chilies I love rellenos with cheese. We live in central Ohio but my husband is from Las Cruces, NM. When we visit family we always try to bring some Hatch chilies home with us. They’re the best!

  17. Sarah

We order from them every year. Our favorite is the Sandia green. We love them added to everything but the best is green chile chicken enchilada casserole.

  18. Stacy Chumley

Big Jim medium I put it in pretty much everything I can. Grew up in NM moved family gave me a few little ziplock baggies and I’m out and sad. Lol

  19. Shauna

I prefer the Big Jims but sometimes they are not spicy enough for me. I may have to try the sandia next year. I love chile rellenos. There is nothing like fresh homemade rellenos with chilies from the festival.

  20. Reagan G.

We would like the big Jim. I’ve never had hatch chilies, but have heard my father-in-law rave about them for years. He lived in that area for years and loves them.
